Mikell Lucus
Graduate Assistant Women's Soccer Coach
Mikell Lucus is in her first season as a graduate assistant coach with the Wayne State College women's soccer team and serves as goalkeeper's coach.
Lucus helped the Wildcats make a substantial improvement in her first season with WSC as the Wildcats posted a 4-15-1 record in 2009. WSC doubled their output in goals this season (11 in 2008 to 22 in 2009) while allowing 36 less goals than the previous season as the Wildcats. Under the coaching of Lucus with the goalkeepers, Wayne State's team goals against average dropped from 4.10 in 2008 to 2.32 in 2009.
The native of Nashville, Tennessee has an extensive background in soccer, playing Division I soccer at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Lucus played her high school soccer at Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet High School in Nashville and received All-State honors at goalkeeper in her senior year. She served as captain of her high school and college teams as a senior and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Following her playing career, Lucus has trained goalkeepers for travel teams and high school clubs and received her bachelors degree in Graphic Design. Mikell is pursuing her masters degree in organization management with an emphasis in sport and recreation management at Wayne State College.
